The past year...

lil man and me For the past year, and quite literally, I have been focused on increasing the size of my family.  After my sisters wedding in Vegas, we decided it would be a great time to become pregnant again.  So we began actively trying.  The journey to having a third child was paved with many hurdles that we had to compensate for that I had never faced before. Tamara and I at Fifth Avenue Collection 25 Anniversary seminar The timing of getting pregnant was our first hurdle.  I'd never had difficulty before, but to be honest I had never really tried to get pregnant before based on my cycle, I just figured that is what happened with the first two pregnancies.  The hurdles with this one weren't necessarily with my cycle but my husband began to work away from home so he was gone for long periods of time. It was stressful because I did have a time frame for when I wanted to be pregnant by so that I could have my baby by a certain date.  ...

First day of my last maternity leave

Well today marks the first day of my last maternity leave.  What kept me up last night, thoughts of work and did I let my replacement know this or that.  I had a little conversation with myself as I got up, put those thoughts into a bubble and blew them away.  I'm sure I left her much more prepared than I was going into the role, but it is very difficult to prepare for everything while you are still working the day to day of the job. My next focus needs to be keeping Lil man busy without letting him watch television all day. I'm not against television, but it's what I feel should be a last option especially since he has so many toys and likes to be outside so much.  I will need to print off some calendars and some schedules for him so that he knows what to expect each day, and then we will have good days.  And maybe he will get some extra learning in as well. I will be scouring Pinterest and other blogging sites to help set up our days so we have things to d...

Coming back to blogging

Image
So it's been some time since my last blog, no excuse for it really other than I have been working full time, raising the boys, hubby has been working away and my creative writing seems to have hit an immense road block.  A gargantuan writers block had set in, I just couldn't write three words together if I had to try.  Even my emails were painful to write and they were definitely purposeful writings. Since my last blog a lot has changed in my little family life.  Hubby started his own company so he is working away a lot right now.  That means it's just me and my two boys at home.  I've been getting the boys off to school, off to soccer and swimming, and just doing things with them on my own most of the time.  Hubby and I also decided to try for one more baby, and back in September we found out I'm  expecting again.  In case you don't follow me on twitter or Facebook, that means I have 19 days left until my due date.  Yup a lot has changed, in...

An Update on Well everything

Another look back on how Lil Man came into this world October 22 and 24 were crazy days. So last week, actually on the 22 of October I had a doctor's appointment and I still had high blood pressure. My doctor sent me for a non stress stress test. I am pretty sure I mentioned this before, what I haven't mentioned though is that the next day October 23rd I was admitted into the hospital. My blood pressure was 160/100. I was light headed and felt clammy. It was not a good day and when I arrived at my doctor's office he sent me to the hospital almost immediately. I went home got my bags, kissed Chandler and Adrian and I set off for the hospital. I ended up spending the night in the hospital where they gave me a sleeping pill and monitored my blood pressure all night. The next day they checked my blood pressure again, it was still high, 147/86 but it had stabilized so my doctor sent me home with a prescription for labetatol and ordered bed rest. I was to go into...

Do you remember???

Well today is the 26th of October most of you are aware of this, but how many of you remember what you were doing on this day??  I remember, I remember every detail, every smell and every ache and poke I got on October 26th.  This year October 26th is a Tuesday, last year it was a Monday.  Last year at 7:30 in the morning Adrian and I got Chan ready to head off to school on the bus for grade 6 and we headed to the hospital.  It was the day I was to be induced.  After checking in and getting all my wristbands AGAIN (on Friday I had been admitted because my blood pressure went through the roof) they took us to a room.  I had to share the room with another girl, we didn't talk to the girl, we actually had a good situation, I would be out of the room walking around and when I was in the room she would go out and walk around. Yup this day last year started our final steps in the journey to having Little Man join our family.  No Little Man did not join u...

Inducing Labour Attempt Two

So in keeping with the documenting of labour induction I attempted to get this baby out again today. Yesterday's stretching of the membranes did not work. It was uncomfortable and a little painful but no contractions followed. So I have now gone to try the next item on my list. My list, by the way, is not written in any particular order, it's basically what is easiest that day. Today I tried spicy food. Today is a day I wish I were in California hanging out with Alex and her family because then I would have gotten some real spicy food. Alas, I am in Alberta where we do not get a lot of spicy food. I guess that might not be an accurate statement but there are not a lot of options for spicy food that i enjoy. My friend Tara came and picked me up and we went to the mall. Tara had to do some shopping and I had to do some walking around and looking for spicy Mexican food. Unfortunately, the only Mexican option was Taco Time. But some type of spicy food is better then nothin...

Starting the process to get this labour going

So today was officially my last day of work before I go on Maternity leave. I am very excited to be on Maternity leave. Work was getting stressful and I am so tired from not sleeping that I needed to leave. I had contemplated leaving six weeks earlier but I toughed it out and have made it to the end of my pregnancy. With my due date being 14 days away, I am now trying to induce labour early. I have been doing research (read looking on line) for ways to induce my labour. There are a few that everyone knows about and some that I had never heard of before. So from now on until this little child enters the world I shall be trying to induce labour. There were many suggestions online to induce labour. These suggestions included acupressure, nipple stimulation, sex, spicy food, raspberry tea, pineapple, and Castor oil. With my first pregnancy I tried Castor oil, four by fouring, and sex. None of these options worked then, the only thing that worked was contractions starting and...
