Road Trip 2017 Part 2 Journey to Pittsburgh

When we began planning this road trip, we were initially going to zip into the states and take the shortest way there.  I then started looking at a map and suggested that maybe we could do a little detour and stop in Pittsburgh so Lil Man could see where his favourite hockey team plays.  Estelle was agreeable to this so we began plotting out our journey.

Once we crossed into North Dakota it was a long journey through prairie lands.  North Dakota was pretty, and some of the places were well named.  Devil's lake seems like it had a very appropriate name.

Some how we crossed the Minnesota border without seeing a sign.  This became a trend and a reason why we did not have pictures of the group in each state we drove through.  When you are on the Interstate it's pretty much impossible to see the state signs, next time I do this road trip I may not worry about staying on the Interstate and just take some of the smaller high ways. It would take longer but I might get more places to turn off to take some pictures.

We stayed that night in Wisconsin.  The hotel was mediocre but we found a decent little bar/ diner to eat at and then we found a TARGET!

It was a long day of travelling and there wasn't a lot to do at the hotel as there was no pool due to it being out of order (they should really mention these things on their websites!!) The next day was another long day as we were heading to Pittsburgh.

We left early in the morning and got back on the road.  Leaving Wisconsin behind I felt like I should have bought 10 dozen eggs because they were $0.49/ dozen.

We ran into some really wicked storms in Illinois.  It was pouring like could not see out the window.  I was terrified as well because it appeared the Estelle would keep looking down at the wiper controller to change the wipers.  And the roads were so busy.  I had a choking fit that terrified Estelle,  I was find but swallowed the wrong way.  It was funny and not funny at the same time.

Getting through Illinois we zipped through Indiana and breezed through Ohio.  We arrived really late at night into Pittsburgh, so it was straight to bed so we could go explore the city in the morning.

This was Lil Man's favourite day and Prince T loved it as well.  Lil Man has been a penguins fan since he was 4 and could decide on a team to cheer for, Prince T decided he really liked the store at the PGP Arena and chose then to become a Penguins fan too!  I can't blame them, the Penguins are doing well, back to back Stanley Cups, and our Alberta teams are not doing so well.

We spent about an hour at the stadium wandering around taking photos and then we got back on the road.  Our next stop would be NYC!
