Six On Saturday: 6 things I can't live with out.

Image
When you go through tough times, it sometimes brings to the forefront those things that make life amazing.  And right now things have not been super great in my life, but there are things that if I didn't have those, my life would suck, and be worse than it is.  So these are the six things I have found keep me ground and keep me from spiralling out into the utter darkness. 1. My family: I have such a great supportive family, they let me bitch, they let me complain and they keep me grounded. I've been blessed with two best friends in my siblings and couldn't imagine not being as close to them as I am.  I've also been blessed with a mother who is my rock and supports me at every decision I make, even when she doesn't agree with me. 2. My friends: For letting me bitch, for letting me cry on their shoulders, for sharing their situations to help me see that I am not the only one to have gone through this and that it might be bad right now but there is another sid...

Soccer Season is in full swing

Image
I never played organized sports growing up.  Aside from a few school teams when I was in middle school I never played any sports.  I guess they were out there but we lived in a small town and there weren't many options.  You could play hockey, ringette or figure skating in the winter and ball in the summer.  And that was it! I mean I barely recognized that other sports existed until I moved to the bigger city.  But by then I was not interested in being sporty, I was interested in boys..... So when I got to university I started dating this guy who introduced me to soccer, a sport I had always admired from the sidelines.  When I first started going to the all girls school a few girls were on this city soccer team and I so wanted to play but I really had no idea about it, so when I got the opportunity to play for fun I was pumped!! And I loved it! I loved the running the fast pace movement on the field and the camaraderie that exist on the field. Then I mo...

It's another Friday Five!! You can learn more about the Friday Five from our lovely hosts,  Mar ,  Cynthia  or  Courtney !! You can also read some other bloggers fun posts by reading the links at the end of our hosts post!! Today's topic is our favourite Five Indoor Workouts. I'm not even sure I can name five indoor workouts that I love, but I am so excited to read other people's ideas to see if I can bring them into my workouts!! 1. Yoga I am late to the game, but I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE yoga!! IT's so amazing, when I have a good yoga session I feel the same as I do after a run!! So Yes I love yoga, but I do not love Bikram Yoga.  I know lot's of people who love Bikram Yoga, but I am not one of those people. I like to feel like I've workout after doing any type of physical activity, I do not like to feel like I'm ready to heave my guts on the floor.  To those of you that love Bikram, congrats that's awesome, I'll follow a different yoga path fo...

Lil Man plays soccer

So Lil Man has been watching his brother play soccer his whole life and has been dying to get down on the pitch to play as well.  It's been painful taking Lil Man to his brothers games sometimes because he just wants to play so much and Lil man is so much more active than his brother was at that age so he was always on the go. This year we have been able to let Lil Man have his greatest wish and it has furthered my Soccer Mom status.  Lil Man is playing timbits soccer and he really enjoys it, when he's had a nap! When he doesn't nap in the day, which is not something we really let him do, he's a bit cranky by 5 pm and doesn't really want to listen.  On top of my being Lil Man's soccer mom and biggest cheerleader I am his coach this year.  I am certified U4-U6 Coach. Most of the kids have no idea what soccer is, they either just want to play tag, catch the coach or they pick up the ball and run with it.  It's quite funny and normal really but I am having ...

Soccer Star Chandler

Image
Chandler has been playing soccer for four years now.  He has come along way in his skills and abilities.  From a timid soccer player in grade five to the defensive star that he is today it's been a great pleasure to see him develop pride in a sport to the point that he really enjoys and is looking at other options for him to further his understanding of the sport. He had one year in the middle of his four years where he did not play soccer.  He had broken his arm in the final game of his season in grade six and then did not want to play again.  His team was not the most skilled and the coaches, parents who volunteered were not skilled as coaches and he became frustrated because he was had a great coach the first year he played.  His team still ended up coming together in the end and he has been on the gold or silver team every year he has played.  He is a bit competitive. So I am happy to spend my weekends taking him to soccer and watching Chandler as h...

Extracurricular activities

So Chandlerman is in soccer. He really enjoys playing indoor soccer and he's not bad at it. He has played all positions. He does well at seeker, and he did pretty well at defense. He is a very positional player. If he is told to play right wing, he sticks to the right wing, if he's told to play defense he stays in his predetermined position. Last year he had an excellent coach. His coach was well versed in soccer and really knew what was going on. He was able to communicate to the children the positions he needed them to play. Sometimes he would use sayings like "touch tight", some parents would voice that the children didn't understand that. But, the kids did understand and they followed his instructions. The reason, he explained what he was saying so the kids knew that when he called out instructions they would know what to do. He celebrated the children's accomplishments and congratulated the children when they did what they could even if they l...
