Friday Five: Top 5 books I want to read this year.

I have a collection of books on my desk, it's like a mini collection of books I want to read but I just have not sat down and read them.  So I am making it a goal this year to put in the work, time and effort to read these books. 1. The Break.  This is Marion Keyes newest novel and I haven't even started it yet even though I bought it back in November.  I've just always had so many other books to read so I haven't set it in my queue, but now it is. 2.The Power of Now.  This book by Eckhart Tolle, is about living in the moment, living for the now, not the future, not the past but the present.  I've started reading this one, but it asks you to reflect and think about things and I just didn't feel in the right mindset, but I think living in the Now is very important for me especially as I move myself back to being my old happy self. 3. Braving the Wilderness.  Brene Brown's newest book, I love reading her books, and once I am done these five I am going t...

I've read so many books these past six months

Working in a library will definitely increase your reading, if it's not then you aren't doing it right!!!! Seriously, I was working in a High School library for four months and I am pretty sure I read at least 30 books.  I'm a reader as it is, but just being surrounded by those books every day made me want to read all the books, even those books that I would generally never touch. So here is a list of the books I read. Ruby Red Emerald Green Sapphire Blue This is a series by Kirsten Grier, it's a sci fi/ fantasy novel about a family who has time travelling genes and certain members are able to time travel and they have this big old mystery and a little love story as well! Great reads!! Winterkill Dark Thaw Both by a local author from the Rimby area, Kate Boorman.  Great dystopian novels!! Orphan 8 A train in Winter Archie Gets Married Vol 1 Archie Gets Married Vol 2 If I stay (bring out the deep sobbing ugly cry!!!) Laurie Halse Anderson writes a lo...

Pretty Girl Sasha

Image
Sunday I took Sasha for pictures at Fetch Haus in Red Deer.   Alicia was doing a Valentine's Day shoot for puppies and I thought it would be nice to take Sasha for some pictures.  I would take Louis too, but he's a bit unmanageable still, so I left him at home.  Sometimes it's nice to just do things with the girls and Sasha is the only other girl in my family at this point. So of course she looked great this morning then she and Louis went outside to play and got FILTHY!! I swear she was almost like Harry the Dirty Dog, you remember that story???  That was my Sasha, so I had to go out and clean her off.  Louis did not enjoy my brushing Sasha, he is very narcissistic, and thinks all attention should be given to him. As I was getting Sasha settled, he kept coming over and pushing her out of the way.  He's a bit of an arsehole, that's the only word to explain it, I mean he sits on poor Sasha all the time and Sasha is such a wuss, she just takes it. So h...

30 day challenge Day 12

Your thoughts or opinions about Harry Potter I am absolutely in love with the Harry Potter franchise.  Finally, a group of characters have been created that both male and female students enjoy and can relate to.  I have been a fan of Harry Potter since I came across the first book and waited on pins and needles for every other book to come out after I had read the third book.    I love the movies and I truly believe they did a great casting job when they chose the actors to play the characters.  I have had a few issues with the movies and I understand about creative licensing, but sometimes they take it to far.  I believe the Goblet of Fire was the first movie where I took against the Harry Potter movie section of this franchise.  It cut out so many wonderful parts of this story and it appeared chopping in some scenes where characters were almost forced to interact.  Had I not read the book I may not have been able to put the story together....

Picture Books for little ones

When my first child was born I was given the book Love you Forever by Robert Munsch. It was one of those books that when I read it I would cry because I was hormonal and because, honestly, I am a very sentimental person. So when I became pregnant again I wanted to buy my new little bundle another book. I found the book Someday by Alison Mcghee and Peter T. Reynolds. Now this is a book that talks about a mother watching her baby grow from a baby into a child and then predicts some of the things this child will experience in the future. I read it to my little baby today and I cried. So to all new parents out there if you want a super easy to read book with pleasant pictures I recommend this book. I can't believe how big my boys are getting and one day they will move out of my house and I will watch them become the great men I know they are going to be.
