Shop Local Tuesday: little studio, big heart!!

Image
When I was pregnant with Prince T, I was part of a dress club.  Each month we would go do something different and hang out and visit. One month we went to Hot Pot Studio ! It was so much fun!! I loved that while I was getting to be all creative I was hanging with some cool people and we were visiting and laughing.  We didn't have to yell to be heard (and the back ground noise was minimal which was good because I had lost my hearing in my left ear).  And we also got to see everyone else's creativity which was so cool! So after the first time I went back two more times! I want to go some more, but I've had to be smart with my finances so that will have to wait a couple more months.  The first time I went I painted a little plant pot and plate.  The second time I painted a popcorn bowl for Lil Man and the third time I painted a piggy bank for Prince T!! I really want to paint four more bowls for all of us so we can all have our own personalized pop cor...

Home Renovations

Image
So when we bought our house 5 1/2 years ago we were first time home owners, we had ideas about what we wanted in a house, but having never owned one of our own we were just basing it off our little rental places.  We bought a 4 level split which I am mostly happy with, there are a few things that could be better but at the end of the day it's working for us.  Do I still want to move? You bet one day we will move to a place that has a nice yard, a garage and an extra bedroom/ office for our guests.   For now we need to make the best of what we have. So our home was a bank owned home.  The previous owners had defaulted on their mortgage and the bank had foreclosed on them.  It was right up by Chandler's school, a school I really enjoyed and the neighbourhood seemed like a decent neighbourhood.  It was a on a busy street but it was a corner lot with a nice size back yard. good for dogs and kids to share.  (Two things I'll never do again, buy on a busy s...

Renos: How I loath thee and love thee

Image
We are currently renovating our main bathroom, the only bathroom in the house with a bathtub.  My life is in disarray and has been for the entire month of November. For starters I am excited about the end results of the new bathroom but in the mean time things have gone to pot.  I am a bath person, I would rather have a bath than a shower any day of the week. I love to relax in my tub and read a good book, and that has been denied to me for a month now.  I have gone to my in- laws house twice but that still isn't the same, it's a little awkward sitting in their tub relaxing when they are playing in the living room with lil man.  So at first we thought the project would take three weeks, but it's week 5 now and the end is only beginning to come into sight.  There have been a few hiccups along the way.  We have been found some contradictory information, and have had to work through that, neither of us feel much like working after work so we have only been...

Chalk Board Pantry

Image
So another GREAT pinterest find was the idea of using Chalk board paint on your pantry doors so you can keep track of grocery list and meal plans.   I loved that idea.  I also hate my white kitchen cupboards so GUESS what I did today!!! 2nd coat inside door second coat outside door I painted my pantry doors with chalk paint.  I am lucky I guess because my kitchen cupboards have some design on them that makes it easy to choose where to chalk paint.  After two coats I have some new chalk boards in my house.  I think these will be great for us and for Lil Man as he has taken to colouring on walls as of late.  Trust me I am very frustrated with this behaviour but hopefully this will help him learn where he can colour and where he can't.     I am loving this idea and when we redo our kitchen in the next couple of years I will be incorporating this idea for sure!!
