My new Deck

Image
Since we've moved into our home nine years ago we've known that we needed to replace the deck and fence eventually, but it's a big cost and babies, weddings and travelling always seemed to take precedent, until this year, this year was the year of the Deck! Last year due to a ferocious wind storm we were able to use our house insurance to replace our deck and sheds that were damaged in the storm, but the deck still stood (I have no idea how!!) so we had to wait until we could replace the deck. The beginning of the deck tear down I really, REALLY wanted to go to California with my boys this summer but being a home owner means we have responsibilities that we must take care of and our deck was not going to last another winter without injuring someone.  So we cut our vacation to the states short, we still had a good time and then we came back home and tore out our old deck.  We took the old addition to the deck off and reframed and new section. That was the e...

Snow Fort 2014

I'm not a big fan of winter I don't care for many winter sports and I HATE the cold.  Despise, loath, detest the cold, after -15 it's all the same really, too cold to function, in my opinion.  So when I had boys I had to decide, did I move somewhere warm, or did I learn to embrace winter?  I learned to embrace winter.  I still don't like it, but it can be pretty, it can be nice and warming up after being out in the cold is a favourite activity of mine!! Lil Man loves being outside, he loves being active and he loves the outdoors.  It's not always his first choice, because of the generation he's apart he likes those technology things and covets time with them.  This may be because I limit his use of iPads, computers, video games etc to the weekends and then only for 2-3 hours.  Even TV is limited in the house, so if he thinks he can get me to allow him to watch TV, he'll try to play that game, but once you get him outside, he will stay out until he's ...

Thanksgiving in Saskatoon

I've always been a family person! To be able to spend time with my family just hanging out or playing games is one of my most favourite things to do in the whole world. So on holidays or when we go back to Saskatchewan that's one of the only things I want to do.  I also know that it makes my grandma happy to play games with us and as she's getting older I like to do things that will make her happy.  Plus I really enjoy that time with my family. I admit to being selfish, especially when it comes to spending time with my family when we go back to Saskatchewan. And I know that I have a lot of fun playing games with my grandma and mom but it's not really for everyone, and my husband didn't always enjoy it.  Where I could sit and play games for 3-4 hours in a row,  Hubby may have joined for a couple games but it wasn't really his thing and just sitting around would get bored. Hubby is a doer.  He likes to be doing things or going places so to just sit around and ...

Sparks Center Calgar

Image
It was a rainy, overcast Saturday so the original plans of golfing were kiboshed and new plans had to be made.  Hubby thought we might like to go to the Science Center in Calgary, I was game so we got ready, loaded ourselves into the truck and headed on down to Calgary. Lil Man was very excited o be at the science centre. I'm not actually sure he really saw anything he was all over the place, but there were tons of smiles and even more questions then usual.  My four year old loves to ask questions, he asks so many questions on a daily basis, that I wish I knew someone who did brain scans to see how his brain fires.  His train of thought is seriously all over the place. We walked through the whole centre top and bottom, it was quite humid and warm in there which made it a little uncomfortable, but Lil Man loved the exhibits, especially any that had to do with water. He also enjoyed the magnets, and the electric stuff.  At one point he said to anothe...
