Five Years Ago on the 15th of August

Image
I did a little something and got married!! No we didn't elope or anything, we planned it out and in the end it was the perfect day! My husband and I got engaged in 2009 and two years later we were married.  Yup it wasn't something we rushed into, although we did get engaged a year and a half after dating then sort of tested the waters for a bit.  I'd always had a plan to get married in Lake Tahoe, you know my favourite place on the planet!! After taking my husband there in 2010 he agreed that this would be a wonderful place for a wedding. Now we decided to get married on a Monday in the summer, not the most popular day granted, but since we were travelling from Canada this would give everyone a little time to travel down for the wedding and not feel rushed trying to make a Saturday wedding or having to leave right after. We were all on vacation anyways so it didn't matter what day of the week we chose.  We had friends and family coming from California as well, not...

Double celebration today

Image
Today our Teddybear is 3 months old!! He's growing so fast!! This past month he's rolled over, he's gone in his exosaucer. He's travelled to the zoo and had a great visit with his cousins.  He's even gotten into a routine a little bit and mommy likes it!! Teddybear you are a delightful child and we love you so much!! slow down on the growing up though  because we want to enjoy every minute of you!!  You have an amazing smile, a cute laugh (only heard that one once) You are a professional snuggle bug, and the only time it's difficult is when I'm trying to type and you kick the computer!!   Currently you like, sleeping, cuddling, playing in the exosaucer, bath time, tummy time and rolling over. Currently you dislike being put down, wet and dirty diapers, loud noises and long car rides. As the title says though this is a double celebration day, because on this day three years ago I married my love!! It was a beautiful day in Lake Taho...

Viva Las Vegas Round two WEDDING DAY

Image
The first day where my body seems to want to sleep in I had to be up early, as I had to head over to the Bellagio to get my hair done and start prepping for the wedding with my beautiful sister. All the bridesmaids met in Courtney's hotel room then we headed down to the salon so we could make our appointments.  Courtney got a manicure done and when she was finished we all had our hair styled.  Courtney looked absolutely stunning, she has the nicest ebony colour hair and it's long and they had a half up do done for her!! After the hair was all styled and pinned into place we headed up to Courtney's suite for the dress and make up portion of getting ready. After ordering some room service the girls began the process of doing make up and getting into our dresses.  It was fun and Courtney's other bridesmaids were great to hang out with, I knew Pam from before but this was the first time I had met Courtney's friend and sister in law Trinity.  She was very nice ...

Viva Las Vegas Round 2

Image
I personally think Vegas is the type of town that grows on you.  My first visit to Las Vegas was ok, but I didn't get all the hype that I saw everyone posting about, I truly thought it was a neat place, but give me a beach any day!!  So when my sister decided her wedding location was going to be Vegas, I had mixed feelings about it.   I needed to make this trip more fulfilling then the last. The first thing we did was ensure that we were not bringing children with us! Check, both kids were deposited at aunties houses for the week!!  Grandma and Papa would check up on the lil one and my big son would be spending some time with his lil cousins.  First hurdle solved, now just to figure out what Hubby and I would be doing in Vegas. This was literally the first trip I did not plan down to the wire.  Vegas is so busy on a normal day that I thought instead of planning things out we would just play it by ear and see where the wind took us.  It was also Hub...

Week 18 52 Week Photo Challenge

Image
Week 18 was perspective.  There was talk about us all trying to take a picture of the same subject, but as we all live in different areas of the province this was not really possible.  But I found some interesting subjects to choose for this week. One was  a picture of my sister on her wedding day, she looked so pretty, and I love the silhouette picture I was able to capture. The other was of a sign I had seen in one of the bars in Carlos and Charlies.  It was so fun and had everything to do with perspective, not even how I saw things, but how others see and value things.

Remembering my "Last Friday Night"

Image
Katy Perry's Last Friday Night was very popular the year I got married, so when my girls and I went out that song kept playing out in my mind. So my girlfriend Rolandia organized my bachelorette party, compete with Limo, boat cruize and drinking at the bar.  We started in Sylvan Lake and finished in Red Deer. It was  a great night spent with great friends and I wouldn't have done it any differently. The boat cruise was so much fun, we went all over Sylvan Lake and we played drinking games as the sun began it's slow decent into the West.  Another group on the boat played socialables with us, truthfully, they included us into their game but we played with the best of them.  After the boat cruise, Rolandia had arranged for a limo to pick us up, when it arrived we headed back to Red Deer to cruise around as we enjoyed many beverages, songs and company in the back of the limo.  I had a Princess Glass to enjoy all my beverages in for the night as we all know t...

The Summer is stretching before us.

I look out at what's going to be happening this summer, and there is so much coming up that I don't even know how I will fit it all in.  The biggest event is obviously the wedding, but there are some precursory events that are coming up that I am really looking forward to.  But I have a lot of work to do to be prepared for all these events.  Things I must finish and organize so that I can be prepared for the big 'I DOs" and all that comes after it, not to mention I have to continue to apply for jobs and stuff. Some of the things on my to do list include finishing favours, ordering m&ms, finding table clothes for the tables, order the cupcakes for the wedding, apply for jobs, apply for EI (gag me), and making all my other plans daily activities for Lil Man.  It seems like a long to do list, but really most of those things could be completed in a morning, and in all actuality I applied for jobs and applied to EI this morning.  Lil Man and I will be doing pla...

DIY Wedding Project #2

The Do It Yourself Wedding Projects are driving me crazy!!!  I just don't feel that creative and sometimes it is just about enough to drive me crazy. I think I have figured out what my next project will be and I need to complete it this weekend.  The project is my wedding favours.  I am making 60 favours as I have about 50 confirmed guests.  Yeah for a small wedding sometimes wish it were smaller but maybe it still will turn out to be smaller. I wanted to do something for my wedding that would be personal to both Adrian and I and something that our guest could keep if they wanted.  That's when I started looking around my house for ideas of things Adrian and I both liked.  What were somethings we collected and displayed around our home that if people saw they would be like, oh yeah that's so Jenn and Adrian. We have a plethora of stuff in our house.  We have hundreds of DVDs, thousands of photographs, hundreds of books (mostly mine), tools (mostly A...

Wedding Update

Maybe one of these days I will be the excited bride that I have seen everyone else being, but for now I am more blase about the whole situation.  Seriously, the closer it gets to the impending date, the more I want to just run down to city hall and forget about everything else.  I just really don't care that much, it's kind of counterproductive too. I finally got my wedding dress.  I am very happy with it.  It's not quite the dress of my dreams, but it's the dress that will best suit my wedding that looks the best on me.  It even has STRAPS!!!  I am so excited about that part, although it's almost made so you shouldn't wear a bra, but we will see what happens come closer to that special date in August.  Now I have been thinking about my numbers and who's all going to be around and everything, and I am starting to reconsider the whole meal on the beach thing.  I am thinking we will talk to our hotels and see if we can use a kitchen and then jus...
