Summer Fun to begin!! Friday Five

Image
I'm again linking up with Mar , Courtney  and Cynthia  for their Friday Five, I'm a day late, as well I took a mental health break from life just trying to get readjusted to going back to work again after being off for a year!! It's harder than you'd think!! Today's Friday Five is all about my Five Favourite Activities to do in the summer, so here they are!! 1. Camping!   This is new for me, I was never much of a camper, I did enjoy it when I was in high school and lived 30 minutes from the nearest lake, and I even camped in a tent! But as I got older the people I was friends with either didn't like camping or basically we couldn't afford it, so I lost my desire to camp. I for sure lost my desire to camp in a tent!! My husband loves camping, in a tent or camper he's fine either way.  He also likes camping in the bush, like not by a lake!  I don't understand it, I need to be by a lake or some body of water to enjoy camping, just sitting ar...

Last Camping Trip of the Season!!

Image
Summer has come to an end, and we sent it out in style!! For a girl who isn't into camping, I had a busy, busy summer doing just that.  Thankfully I did it in our new trailer otherwise it would have been a very different summer.  The last camping trip of the season was a long one, it was busy and it was a lot of fun! The last camping trip of the summer was with the whole family and Chandler's friend Eli.  Though there was enough room in the trailer for us all to sleep in the trailer, Chandler and Eli set up a tent to stay in.  We got all settled into our campground spot and spent three days awaiting the arrival of the Krawec family. they whittled boats Our three days alone the boys did some fishing and we hung out at the campsite playing games and enjoying some great food!! We brought cards and board games to enjoy in the evening.  The boys also enjoyed time around the campfire, Adrian even bought little packets to change the colours of the campfire....

Sylvan Lake Day trip

Summer is such  busy time! During the school year, school monopolizes your children's time so you only have to plan activities for two days a week but once July hits it's up to the parents to ensure their children are entertained for the summer (or the day care provider if you are working).  But let's be honest you are at least taking a week or two off in the summer where your children are home with you! So what do you do with them. I've posted some of the things we have done with the kids this summer, camping at Gull Lake, day trips to Gull Lake, The Spark Center in Calgary, Parks around Red Deer and today I'll tell you about the Lakeshore at Sylvan Lake. If you are from the Red Deer area or Alberta you have probably been to Sylvan Lake at some point or at least heard of it.  It's about twenty minutes from Red Deer on highway 11 and 11A.  It's a growing community of over 13,000 residence and I am sure it's population spikes in the summer time.  Weir...

August comes and so does the hot weather

Since we got home the weather has been gorgeous (knock on wood).  I am hoping this trend will last for the rest of the month.  I am LOVING the weather.  I am vacationed out though.  We spent the long weekend in Saskatchewan at Turtle Lake.  It was a good time.  Hung out with Estelle and her family!  Little Man did alright for his first camping trip ever.  We didn't stay in a tent, we got to stay in a little camper that was at the cabin. I caught three fish, and Ade caught three fish. These were expensive fish, they cost about $10 a piece after paying for our fishing license.  LOL So now I am home for the summer. I was supposed to have one more weekend away, but I can't find a sitter to watch Little Man, and I am flat broke.  Silly vacations cost too much money.  But being home has it's advantages too. We have so many projects that need to be completed around the house.  We have painting to do and some landscapin...
