Shop Local Tuesday: Home based Businesses

Image
I've worked in a few Home based businesses or Network Marketing Businesses.  And there are some home based businesses out there that I love their products but I'm not going to become a consultant, or whatever it is they have for names of their distributers.  But I thought today I would focus on the two Network Marketing companies that I am a part of and share with you all some of the perks of these companies. The first Network Marketing Company I started with was Fifth Avenue Collection Jewelry! And in my opinion they are the best jewelry company out there! They use natural gem stones and Swarovski Crystals.  All their earrings are 14 karat gold posts or sterling silver hooks making them wearable for all people who struggle with earrings.  We also use the Davinci clip for clip on earrings which are self adjustable and can be set for individual comfort. Another thing I love about Fifth Avenue is that they are a Canadian Company that has extended world wide! Fifth ...

The past year...

Image
lil man and me For the past year, and quite literally, I have been focused on increasing the size of my family.  After my sisters wedding in Vegas, we decided it would be a great time to become pregnant again.  So we began actively trying.  The journey to having a third child was paved with many hurdles that we had to compensate for that I had never faced before. Tamara and I at Fifth Avenue Collection 25 Anniversary seminar The timing of getting pregnant was our first hurdle.  I'd never had difficulty before, but to be honest I had never really tried to get pregnant before based on my cycle, I just figured that is what happened with the first two pregnancies.  The hurdles with this one weren't necessarily with my cycle but my husband began to work away from home so he was gone for long periods of time. It was stressful because I did have a time frame for when I wanted to be pregnant by so that I could have my baby by a certain date.  ...

New Car

Image
Good bye Explorer Remember back on Good Friday I told  you my car had been involved in a hit an run?  Maybe you do maybe you don't, anyways it was involved in a hit and run and then the insurance adjuster told me they were writing off my Explorer, there was just too much damage. I had an idea of a car I was going to get, it was just going to be a car to get me through until we had some more of our bills paid off.  I had looked at the north end car dealerships and had found a Kia at the Kia dealership.  It was a Forte and it looked ok, nothing fancy, but it seemed to have the added features I was looking for, but it wasn't a car I loved.... not by a long shot, but it would have done the trick. When we checked our mail upon our arrival home from Vegas there was a customer appreciation invitation for MGM for the following day.  The kicker was, if we bought a car that day we would get a free trip to Vegas!!! Now this may seem like a fantastic deal, and reall...

CATCA and Fifth Avenue Collection

Image
Last week was the Central Alberta Teachers Conference put on by the Central Alberta Teachers Conference Association.  It was held on Thursday and Friday during Red Deer College's reading week.  I actually think it was reading week everywhere, but only a the college had the whole week off in Red Deer, school was in session for Tuesday and Wednesday.   I had signed up to have a booth at the conference where I sold my Fifth Avenue Collection.  It was a busy two days.  I was able to visit with a lot of people that I hadn't seen in a long time and I met some great new people as well.  I enjoy doing the CATCA event because it allows me to be in contact with some great people and it's a great networking opportunity for me.   I didn't have as many sales as I would have liked, but I did have a lot of lookers and many people filled in forms to win my draw, it was a great two days.  Here are some of the items I had for sale, if you are interested in...

Just another Day

Image
It's been a quiet weekend around here, I have been working all weekend with my Fifth Avenue Collection business and Adrian and the boys have been doing their own thing.  It's been nice being able to stay home and just hang out with us here.  I'm really liking it. It's not been often in the past few months that we have been able to do this, what with me working nights, and then other things with the holiday season, justing sitting around and enjoying each other's company has been a fleeting ideal.  Not even something that has been actualized. Maybe that's why I love my Fifth Avenue Collection Business.  It brings in money when I want it to, it has the potential to be so much more, but for now it does what I need it to do.  I have made more this weekend by being at home then I have on my sleep nights, so I know making the decision I made to stop working front line is the right decision.  I know that I have to grow my business and step outside my comfort...

Mystery Hostess Time

Image
It is the 25th Year for Fifth Avenue Collection!!! It's an exciting time for all of us in the business and there are many rewards and contests and Head Office is giving our hostesses great rewards to celebrate them. So I've been thinking I would put my Fifth Avenue business on the shelf for a bit, I had so much going on in my life and I didn't want to be so busy that I missed things with my kids, I already felt stretched to the limit.  But then things changed, unexpectedly, and I am back at looking at what I can have Fifth Avenue can do to help me reach my goals.  So I have decided to take advantage of the promotions offered by Fifth Avenue to explode my business and I am going to be hosting a Mystery Hostess Event. What is a Mystery Hostess Event?  Well it's an event I host and invite my customers to, at the end of the event I take all the customers who came and purchased and add their names to a draw.  I then pick one person's name and award them the hostess c...

When I say Whirlwind that's exactly what I mean

OMG I am finally getting my life back into a schedule, and I am finally able to schedule in blogging time!!! So Sorry blogging buddies that I have been neglectful of you, I have been reading when I can but I am not even kidding you that my life has been, not in the eye of a whirlwind but right in the midst of if for the last four months. It all started back in December getting ready for Christmas.  Christmas is a busy time of the year as it is, and well work and everything else just started picking up and it was like I was on a runaway train.  I had been working three jobs, substitute teaching, working in the group home and working my own home based business, Fifth Avenue Collection.  Plus I had been trying to put in time to writing and spending time with my family and giving myself time but there wasn't much left to give me.  After our quick trip back to Saskatchewan for Christmas I went straight to work for 8 days in  a row.  And not just 4 or 5 hour shi...

Poultry Show

I had a long weekend this past weekend. There was a Poultry show in town and my friend Tamara and I were set up with our Fifth Avenue Collection selling our jewelry there.  It wasn't a bad weekend for Tamara but I didn't do to well, I just about covered the cost of the booth, but I had a few outside orders, that made up for the lack of sales at the Event. Now about the event, I have an irrational fear of birds.  Their flapping wings and sharp claws and pointy beaks freak me out.  Yet I found myself at this show working, and eventually tuning out the loud caws of the birds.  It's amazing the amount of noise you can train yourself to block out after a period of time. Did you know that their are a lot of varieties of Chickens, not just the brown egg chickens, white egg chickens and roosters?  Yup there are white chickens, brown chickens, golden chickens, black and white chickens, chickens with red heads on their heads and black bodies, and many more.  Th...

Reaching my goals!!

So I have to write all my goals down and work them all out so I can post them in my room, on the fridge and by the computer, maybe even in my car, since these are the areas in my house where I spend a lot of time.  I have decided that I have all I need in order to reach these goals, all I have to do is put the time and effort into them.  Whoever thinks that working for yourself is as simple as staying at home and occasionally going out to do home parties, is mistaken.  It does take work to run your own business, but if you work it like a business you can get it done, and see the rewards for that business.  If I expect my business to just work itself, then it won't happen, but if I decide what I want for my business then put in that amount of time I will see the rewards.  For example if I want an extra $500 a month for myself in spending money, that means I have to do at least 2 shows a month, with each show being an average show of just over $500.  I will...

Goals for the next year of my life

Goals, goals goals!!! I have narrowed down some goals that I would like to accomplish by the time I turn another year older.  That means I have less than 365 days in which to accomplish these goals, and I have to make out a plan so I can stick to these goals. I have divided the goals into 4 categories, family, health, wealth and job. My family goal is this: Plan and go on a family vacation somewhere warm after the wedding.     This vacation will be somewhere warm and mostly likely during the November break if Adrian can take the time off.  This vacation has to be completely paid for in advance so that we do not end up with extra accumulated debt when we return.  This trip will not be attached to our wedding plans.  I am thinking Disneyland, or Victoria. My health goal: To reach my desired size and/ or goal weight and maintain that goal weight and/ or size for 6 months.      This health goal will have me focus on maintaining...

Almost done

See I was right once I put my mind to it I can accomplish all kinds of things.  I got up this morning, fairly unwillingly if truth be told, but I made Little Man and I breakfast, then I did my planning for school and then I made my shopping list for the week.  I have a little to do list for today then I get to relax and watch television or indulge in my Sims 3 addiction.  I am so happy.  I got my invites done and I uploaded Little Man's baby book to Costco for printing just have to wait until I have some funds to print off all those pages, gotta make 1 and 1/2 copies to give to one Great Grandma but I am going to print off a disc to give to everyone else.  So yeah to being able to hang out and enjoy my family for the day instead of worrying about all the things I have to do!!!

What a great opportunity!!

Who out there does not enjoy receiving Free jewellery?  Free jewellery how is this possible?  Well I can break it down for you in a very simplistic manner, and I know that when you find out how easy it is, you will want to ask me to help you get the jewellery items of your choice for FREE!!!   It is a very simple process and all it entails is having a few friends over for a night of beverages and snacks with a glittery display somewhere in the viewing area.  All you have to do is set a date and time when you want to get together with your girlfriends for a girls night in.  I will do all the rest for you, I will help you get some free jewellery and assist you and your friends in having a great night. My hostess package guarantees that you will get some free jewellery, no matter what kind of sales you have during the get together simply by having two other girlfriends over for a night.  Depending on sales and bookings you could receive more free jeweller...

Whoops, didn't get everything done but....

So I had great intentions, and as they say the road to hell is paved with good intentions but I did finish some of my Honey Do list, just not all of it.  I was able to complete my invitations for my Fifth Avenue Collection shows in Saskatchewan.  I just have to send them to Costco then I can get to a mailbox and mail them all off (wedding and show invites (I know I know)). But I had a great morning and afternoon.  My basketball game ended much like I expected, not what I had hoped for but what I had expected. We lost but the boys had fun and I was able to buy them all a treat after the game with the tournament dollars the tournament gave us.  Then Chandler and I drove through the blizzard and went to Canadian Tire.  There I purchased two Airsoft pistols and some bbs. I also purchased myself a scale to weigh out my portions of food so I can really commit to this diet.  At 2 my brother and his fiance came over and we visited with them.  They also broug...

Indulgence Time

I am so looking forward to next Monday.  I know this should be on my Lifestyle Lift blog, but I wanted to write it here.  I have my final weigh in on Monday and then I am going to make Adrian take me out on a date.  I think we will indulge in a nice dessert somewhere so if anyone knows of a great dessert place in Red Deer of a place that serves great dessert let me know I am booking it in and my Chandler is going to do some babysitting for me.  I can hardly wait!!!  I am also thinking of doing a little extra indulging this weekend after I finish my Honey Do List.  This list includes mailing out invites (sorry i know i know they are late), completing Fifth Avenue Collection invites for the parties in Saskatchewan (SK friends watch your mailbox for a lovely invite from me), completing my lesson plans for Monday, Wednesday and Friday next week, and booking two more parties for March 11-13 weekend for Fifth Avenue Shows at my place.  It's going to keep m...

Fifth Avenue Collection

I am starting up my home based business again.  I have decided it is the most convenient way for me to make some extra money considering my family and goals that I have in life.  It could be just as easy for me to go out and get another job waitressing on the weekends, but that would take me out of the house and I would spend less time with my family, which for me is not an option.  So now I am spending time every day to do something for my business.  I started two weeks ago, and it was a slow start, I began carrying my Cash and Carry bag, which is a bag with the Fifth Avenue Collection logo on it and little windows to display some pieces of jewellery.  I then set up three shows this weekend to sell some of the jewellery I had in inventory.  None of the days were stellar days that changed my thinking immensely but I did make almost $200 in profit so that's not too bad.  And I got to do it while being at home with my family and I could have done schoo...

Jewelry show this weekend!!

For those of you in the Red Deer area, I am starting to do Fifth Avenue Jewelry shows again.  I had started them about a year ago actually and then stopped around 6 months ago, because I got busy with so many other little things.  I have decided that I have a lot of inventory and it's a fun activity for me to be able to get together with some great people so I want to try doing some shows every month.  I am not looking to become rich doing this, maybe just make a couple extra hundred dollars a month so that if I have to not be working full time again I have a back up plan. I will be having some specials all weekend for those of you that wish to stop by, just send me a message and I can get you the information. Don't worry if you leave a post here with your email address I won't publish it I will just email you back.  Fifth Avenue Collection has some of the best jewelry designs you have seen in a long time.  They have a fabulous warranty and their hostes...

Passions in Life

Do you ever take the road that easier, rather than taking the road that you know you will love??  I have been doing some self reflecting lately and trying to determine what it is that I love to do in life.  In some cases the answers were surprising in others, well they weren't necessarily surprising but more an affirmation. I began selling Fifth Avenue Jewellery early this year.  I really do enjoy their jewellery and it seemed like an easy system for making some money.  In no way is having your own home based business easy, at least not in the beginning when you are getting started.  Home based businesses take work, they are work, but they can become work that is very beneficial to the person doing the business.  I do want to carry on with Fifth Avenue and I will get it going again, but I am now wondering why I didn't go with my first instinct in Home based businesses. It truly would have been a better choice for me, not for the money aspect, but simply...
